Edit or delete a transaction in my manual account

Correct or delete a transaction, and understand why a change is sometimes refused.

Written by Pierre-Luc Schaming

A transaction entered by mistake can be corrected at any time from the account's History tab.

Edit or delete a transaction

  • On the web: in the History tab, open the transaction's menu, then choose Edit or Delete.

  • On mobile: in the History tab, tap the transaction, then choose Edit or Delete.

A transaction's type and holding can't be changed: delete it, then enter it again. If the transaction is marked Processing, wait for the recalculation to finish before editing it.

Why is my transaction refused?

Finary checks that your history remains possible on every date.

When you enter a sell, a withdrawal or a fee:

  • “Quantity cannot exceed the … currently held” or “You owned … at that date. Adjust the quantity, date or past transactions.”: the sell covers more securities than you held on that day. Check its date, or add the missing buy.

  • For a euro fund or a crowdlending holding: “Amount cannot exceed the … currently held” or “You owned … at that date. Adjust the amount, date or past transactions.”: the sell exceeds the amount you held on that day. Check its date and its amount.

  • “Amount cannot exceed the … available”: the withdrawal or fee exceeds your cash. Record the matching deposit first.

When you edit or delete a transaction, for example to reduce or delete a buy that a more recent sell depends on:

  • On mobile: “This change can't be applied because a later transaction depends on it. Remove or edit the later transactions first.”

  • On the web: the same message, or “… would leave a negative quantity for this holding” (“… a negative held amount for this holding” for a euro fund or a crowdlending holding) or “… would leave a negative cash balance on this account”.

In that case, first edit or delete the more recent transaction that depends on it.
