A transaction-based manual investment account can be filled in two ways, depending on what you know about your account.
Holding or transaction?
Add holding: to declare what you already hold, without re-entering the whole history. Enter the quantity and the price. If you leave the Purchase date empty, today's date is used. Finary records the holding as a buy. If you already hold this security in the account, this adds a new buy and averages your unit cost: to correct an existing holding, add a transaction instead.
Add transaction: to record each operation on its date, and get a history and a performance that match your statement. Six types are offered:
Buy and Sell: a security bought or sold;
Deposit and Withdrawal: money paid into or taken out of the account;
Fee: fees taken from the account's cash;
Distribution (dividend, interest): income paid by a holding you own. It is added to your cash and your performance, but doesn't appear in Passive income (Past tab). On the web, for any holding, the Received field lets you choose Reinvested: the distribution is then added to the holding itself, not to your cash. For a stock, ETF, SCPI or crypto, enter the number of units received and the total amount; for a euro fund or a crowdlending holding, the amount only. Finary doesn't create this income automatically: enter each dividend or interest payment you receive.
Where to find the buttons
On the web: on an account created without a balance, the Your account is ready. card offers both. After that, Add holding is in the Holdings tab, and Add transaction in the History tab.
On mobile: tap the + button, then choose Add holding or Add transaction.
Enter a buy or a sell
Search for the security by name, ticker or ISIN. Enter the Date and the Quantity, then the Unit price or the Total amount: fill in one, and Finary calculates the other.
On the web: click Done for each transaction. You can line up several, then save them all with Submit.
On mobile: tap Submit, or Submit and add another to keep going. Each transaction is saved straight away.
You can enter past operations, in any order. Future dates aren't accepted. Sell and Distribution stay unavailable as long as the account has no holdings.
Add a euro fund or a crowdlending holding
These holdings are tracked by amount, not by number of units.
In the Holdings tab, click Add holding (on mobile: the + button, then Add holding) and search for it by name.
If it appears in the results, select it and enter the Total amount.
Otherwise, choose Add a manual holding (on mobile, Add it myself). Fill in the Name, the Category (Fonds euro or Crowdlending; on mobile, Euro fund or Crowdlending), the Currency, the amount invested in Buying price and the current value in Current price, then click Submit. The Purchase date is optional. A euro fund is always in euros.
The Current price can't be below the Buying price. If it's higher, the difference is recorded as a Distribution on the holding, dated the day you add it and editable in the History tab.
For a later payment or withdrawal, record a Buy or a Sell on this holding, entering only the Total amount. For its interest, record a Distribution: on the web, the ⋯ menu of a manually added holding offers Add a distribution directly.
Add a security the search doesn't find
On the web, a stock, bond, ETF, fund, structured product, SCPI or crypto that the search doesn't find can also be added by hand.
In the Holdings tab, click Add holding, then Add a manual holding at the bottom of the results.
Choose the Category: Stock, Bond, ETF, Fund, Structured product, SCPI or Crypto. SCPI is only offered on a life insurance or a retirement savings plan.
Fill in the Name, the Currency, the Quantity and the Unit cost. The Current price per unit is optional: without it, Finary uses the unit cost; it's required if the unit cost is 0. The Purchase date is optional. Then click Submit.
Finary can't price these holdings: keeping their price up to date is up to you. In the Holdings tab, an (i) icon marks them. To change the price, open the holding's ⋯ menu and choose Update price. Each new price appears in the History tab as a Price update. For a new purchase of the same security, search for it: it appears in the results.
After saving
Your transaction appears in the History tab. For a few seconds, while Finary recalculates your holdings, the transaction is marked Processing in the History tab and the amounts concerned show as loading. There's no need to enter it a second time: you would create a duplicate.
These transactions belong to the account: they don't flow into your Budget, and here the History tab replaces the Transactions tab of synced accounts.
