Sometimes, when you log in to Finary, you may not see your usual data. Don’t worry: your account hasn’t disappeared. You’ve most likely created a new account by mistake by using a different login method.
Why does this happen?
Finary allows several login methods:
Login via Google
Login via Apple (with a hidden email address)
Login with email + password
The issue occurs when you switch methods between account creation and a later login.
This creates a new empty account linked to another email address (often hidden from you).
Typical example
You create an account by connecting via Google using the address
[email protected]
.Later, you try to log in using email + password with
[email protected]
, without having set a password.
Result: the login fails, because you never set a password.
💡 Tip: if you’ve never set a password, use the Forgot password function to create one.
Special case: login with Apple
Apple allows you to hide your real email address when logging in. This generates an email address like: [email protected]
If you later try to log in with your real email address (e.g. [email protected]
), Finary cannot link the two accounts and you’ll be redirected to create a new account.
However, if you created your Finary account with your real email address and then click on Sign in with Apple, a new account will automatically be created.
Why? Because Apple, by default, uses a masked email address such as [email protected]
, which is different from your usual address. Finary cannot link the two. This new account will therefore be empty, as it is entirely separate.
How do I recover my existing Finary account?
Here are the steps to recover the correct account:
Look for the Finary welcome email: it shows the address linked to your account.
Try logging in using the same method you used during sign-up:
If you used Google, log back in with the Google button.
If you used Apple, log back in with the Apple button.
If you used email + password, enter the correct email address and your password.
What if I created an empty account by mistake?
No worries. The “empty” account contains no personal data.
You can simply delete it and try logging in again with another method.
