Getting to know the asset view

How to navigate the new asset view: an account or asset's detail page and its tabs (Overview, Holdings, Transactions, Insights, Settings).

Written by Pierre-Luc Schaming

Finary has reorganized your wealth around your assets. Instead of browsing by category (stocks, crypto, real estate…), you now start from your portfolio and open the account or asset you're interested in to see its details.

The new navigation

  1. Go to Portfolio. Your accounts and assets are listed there, grouped by type (Investment accounts, Savings accounts, Startups…). The Group assets by type toggle turns this grouping on or off.

  2. Click an account or asset name to open its detail page.

Where have the category pages gone?

The old category pages (Stocks & Funds, Crypto, Real estate…) no longer exist. Your Portfolio is now the single starting point: it gathers all your accounts and assets:

  • To find a category, turn on Group assets by type in Portfolio — your assets are then grouped by type (Investment accounts, Crypto, Real estate…).

  • To see an asset's detail (holdings, transactions, insights), open its detail page as described below.

An asset's detail page

At the top you'll find the asset's name, its last update time, and a sync badge. On the right, a row of tabs gives access to the different information.

The tabs

The tabs shown depend on the asset type. Here's what you may come across:

Tab

What it does

Overview

The asset's value, its change over time, the total cost basis and total P&L, and a preview of your top holdings.

Holdings

The line-by-line detail (Name, Quantity, Unit cost, Cost basis, Current price, Value, P&L) plus a visual breakdown. (Investment accounts, crypto, collections)

Transactions

The account's transactions, with a See on budget link. (Checking, savings and investment accounts)

Rounds

The funding rounds of your startup investments. (Startups)

Insights

The Fee scanner, Dividends, sector and geographic Diversification, and — for SCPIs and real estate — Market performance. (Investment, SCPI, real estate, loans)

Settings

Edit the asset, manage its sync and ownership, or delete it.

Depending on the asset type, you'll see for example:

  • Investment account (PEA, securities account, life insurance…): Overview · Holdings · Transactions · Insights · Settings

  • Crypto: Overview · Holdings · Settings

  • Checking / Savings account: Overview · Transactions · Settings

  • SCPI: Overview · Insights · Settings

  • Real estate (owned directly): Overview · Insights · Settings

  • Startup: Overview · Rounds · Settings

  • Other asset / Collection (watches, precious metals, artwork…): Overview · Settings

A tab is missing or greyed out?

  • If a tab doesn't apply to that asset type, it isn't shown (for example, a checking account has no Holdings tab).

  • If a tab applies but doesn't have any data yet, it appears greyed out and can't be clicked. The Settings tab is always available.

The sync badge

Next to the asset's name, a badge shows the sync status. When everything is up to date, it reads "Synchronized". If you need to take action (reconnect, provider error, access expiring soon…), the badge changes color and tells you what to do.

On mobile, this badge is shown as an icon; tap it to see the label and details.

Editing an asset (Settings tab)

The Settings tab gathers, in a left-hand menu:

  • Synchronization — manage the connection (synced accounts)

  • Information — edit the name, account type, buying price, etc.

  • Linked loans — (SCPIs and real estate)

  • Ownership — how ownership is split

  • Delete — remove the asset

Your changes are saved automatically as soon as you leave a field: a "Changes saved" message confirms it.

For a synced account, some fields (Institution, Currency…) are greyed out because they come from your institution and can't be edited.
