Performance measurement is an essential aspect of investing. You can't improve what you don't measure. On Finary, you have several options to track your performance.

The 2 types of performance

Profit and loss (+/-)

Unrealized gain or loss, also called p&l, is the true measure of your performance. It is the difference between your average purchase price and the current price at a given time.

This calculation ignores deposits and withdrawals. We only calculate your +/- value when a purchase price is indicated.

We only calculate the +/- value for investments:

  • Shares & Funds

  • Real Estate

  • Crypto

  • Startups

  • Crowdlending

  • Saving Accounts

  • Precious metals

  • Other assets

The following categories are excluded from the performance calculation:

  • Bank accounts

  • Loans

  • Credit cards

Balance changes

Measures the variation of your investments over a defined date range. This value takes into account capital gains and losses, deposits and withdrawals.

The calculation of the evolution applies to all the assets.

Choose between capital gain & evolution

You have the choice to display the method that suits you best, and can easily switch from one to the other. By default, we display the +/- value.

📱 Mobile App

You have two ways to switch between the +/- value and the evolution.

  • "Tap" on the performance items on your Dashboard, Portfolio or each category.

  • Settings -> My Account -> Performance View

🖥️ Desktop version

The ability to switch not yet available on Web, we are working on it. A little patience!
